Hampton Community Center

Little River Grange was founded in 1885 and built this structure in 1906. Little River Grange donated the building to the town in 2002. It is currently used as a community center. Through the years the hall has been used for weddings, square dancing, theater presentations, parties, contests and much more. As Gay Wagner (Consulting Historian for the town) put it “The building is 30′X50′, just right for a town of 1900 people.”

Yes we can! We are happy to tell you that Appalachian Woods will be providing the flooring for the newest Urban Outfitters store. The store will be located at the corner of Central and Cooper, the entrance to the Cooper-Young District. The Cooper-Young District is located in the heart of Memphis and offers a large selection of eclectic and historic shops. The store will be roughly 11,500 square feet and should be a prominent fixture in the midtown area for years to come. The target opening date for the store is March 15th, 2011.
The flooring chosen for this store will be historic Antique Heart Pine. With warm and inviting tones, mixed with knots and that recognizable Heart Pine grain, the flooring is sure to be a perfect fit. We worked closely with Urban Outfitters to provide a custom grade that is sure to please.

With the rise in manufacturing costs in the late 1930’s came the end of silk manufacturing in the United States. The Cheney Mills Dye House is the last of the mill properties to be converted to housing. The $20 million renovation began in the summer of 2009 and has been completed in August, 2010. With the renovation a large amount of the Heart Pine timbers became available. Chosen for it’s strength, beauty and durability, this reclaimed Heart Pine will carry on for years to come as Appalachian Woods turns it into beautiful flooring, molding, cabinetry, stair parts and much more.

This past October we celebrated our second annual Oktoberfest.

It was a day full of laughter and the joys of celebrating life with family and friends.

God has blessed us all with the opportunity to work together here at Appalachian Woods and a big thank you goes out to each and everyone who works hard to make this company a success.

One of our more recent projects will be a rather unique one and a project that hits close to home. The Hochstetler family recently had the opportunity to purchase the childhood home of Rachel (Yoder) Hochstetler. The home is an almost 160 year old log cabin made from some exceptionally large elm logs.

Mrs. Hochstetler, her parents and thirteen of her siblings moved into the cabin (and adjoining structure) in 1959 when she was nine years old. The Yoders lived in the house for many years until 2006 when it was sold from the family name.
On March 30-31 of this year Rachel, her husband Jonas and son Raymond traveled to St. Mary’s, Ontario to begin the process. Each log was individually marked for reassembly and many pictures were taken for the reassembly of the cabin. The cabin has since been dismantled and shipped to our Stuart Draft, VA facility where the logs will be treated and prepped for reaasembly.
