The Cabin grade of our Barn-board Oak flooring has more aging and distressed character than our standard grade does. Our Cabin Grade will typically have more open knots, checking and saw marks. It will also have occasional milling defects (such as partially broken tongues, etc) as long as the planks are usable.

Rustic Beauty

The flooring above and to the right is our cabin grade of Antique Oak in random widths of 3.5″, 4.5″, 7.5″, 8.5″.

It is similar to our standard grade of Antique Barn Board Oak, but we do not do any defecting of the planks after milling it. This leaves it with additional character not found in other grades.

The sample below is shown finished with Waterlox and a Minwax Early American stain.

Beautiful Character

You will find more frequent aging stress cracks and other signs of previous use. The planks will run a bit shorter than our standard grade.

Our cabin grade allows more frequent and larger worm hole patterns and insect scars that may need to be filled during the install and finishing process.

This flooring has a very distinct rustic appeal. Perfect for floors, walls, ceilings or wherever a heavy rustic look is desired.

Wide Plank Flooring Description

Species:  Mixed Red and White Oak
Source: Original barn lumber and planks resawnfrom large beams taken from demolition site
Heartwood: can have unlimited sapwood, but overall there will be a good amount of heartwood
Grain Density:  open and tight grain textur
Knots:  Sound and broken knot
Holes:  Scattered nail / spike holes which may have a dark ferrous stains and may also have larger bolt holes. May have frequent worm holes and other insect scar
Cracks:  Manyoriginal stress and aging crack
Face Character:  Some original saw marks, color variations, cracks, nail holes and other signs of previous use
Color:  This cabin grade of Antique Oak has colors very similar to the standard Barn-board Oak flooring
Grain: Mixed pattern
Milling:  StandardTongue & Groove profile and squared end
Size: Thickness: ¾”   Width: 2.5” – 9.5”   Length: 18″ – 10’+ (average length of these planks tend to run a good bit shorter than our other grade.
M/C: 8-10% or less
